Lights, shadows, back of commercial buildings, and human presence are what create this body of work. Working in the restaurant business, leaving work at late hours of the night, and long walks to the car have inspired me to photograph what it’s like to roam the city while the only people awake at the ones working late night shifts. Behind every restaurant or store, there is a behind the scenes. Not everything is nice and pretty like the front of the store, the back of the house is where people put in hard work to get things done, if it means leaving a door open to get work done faster or leaving a chair outside to take a break and smoke a cigarette. I want to let the viewer finish the story in my photographs by adding people to the photos with their imagination.
